Prayers for the Broken-Hearted

Prayers for the broken-hearted are so important. Some of the most painful times in our Christian journey are facing trials and tribulations of this world. They can leave us feeling empty, broken, and abandoned in our time of grief.

I believe that these times of uncertainty are the best time to get stronger in prayer and faith.

Perhaps you’re reading this and are going through a dark situation right now. If you are, trust me, he sees you. I urge you, today, to start a conversation with Him. Only he can truly understand you and know exactly how you feel.

Romans 12vs 12 ESV “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer ESV

Trust that he is able to lift you out of your hardship if you have faith that he will.

What Does God Say About the Broken Heart?

Psalms 34vs 18 encourages us that “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who are crushed in spirit” NIV

There’s something unexplainable that happens when we give our lives to Christ. A divine exchange happens when we encounter him. As we pick up our cross to follow him, he transforms us and changes our daily habits.

Unfortunately, with this path, sometimes, comes heartbreaks and tribulations.

John 16v33 ESV “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

And that’s why he encourages us to remain strong in our faith regardless of the circumstances that we face. He overcame the world when he died on that cross.

Regardless of the situation, you can trust and believe that God is with you.  He alone understands what you are going through. To the person reading this right now, no one ever knows the true emotions of someone’s heart except our Lord and savior. All I can do is encourage you to bring your heart to Him. God knows how you feel. Talk to him about everything you’re going through.

As the bible says in Mathew18v20 “For where two or more gather in my name, there I am with them”.

I’m standing with you in prayer. Below are some prayers for the broken-hearted that you can use in whichever situation you may be going through.

Prayer for the Broken-Hearted Person

Lord, I come before your throne because I’m in a dark place in my life and I feel empty and broken. Lord my life feels like a mess right now and each and every day. I feel like giving up on myself and life in general. I am overpowered by shame and feel insignificant to your kingdom because of the challenges I’m going through.

I ask that you release me from all this and help me to see myself the way you see me regardless of what I’m going through. I ask that you give me the strength and courage to trust that this season will only make me stronger and realize who I am in your kingdom. Thank you for always loving me and comforting me. Most importantly, thank you for never giving up on me, even when I give up on myself. It is in your Son Jesus Christ I ask all this, AMEN.

Prayer for a Broken Relationship

Heavenly Father, thank you for your continued grace and mercy over me. I humbly come to your throne for you to restore my broken relationship. Thank you for your son, Jesus Christ who is able to bring peace into my relationship along with restoration. Lord Jesus, I ask that you give me a new start in my relationship.

In all areas where we faced conflict bring reconciliation, help us identify our past mistakes, and teach us how to work on them with the help of the holy spirit. Transform the bitterness and misunderstanding towards each other into harmony and peace. Thank you father for the joy that you are about to restore in my relationship. It is in your son Jesus Christ I ask this, AMEN

Prayer for the Person Who Has Lost a Loved One

Father, I approach your throne today with sadness and deep pain. I ask that you hold me in your loving arms, Lord. Comfort me because I feel controlled by my emotions and I need you to release me from it. I struggle to come to terms that (insert name) is gone but I want to find comfort in knowing that you took (insert name) so they can be home with You. Mend this brokenness and emptiness that I am feeling at this moment. Help me to rejoice, even in my time of grief.

Father, help me to surrender this burden that I feel knowing that you are always with me and you love me. I trust that they is in a better place; it is in your son Jesus’s name I pray, AMEN.

Does God Heal the Broken Heart?

The book of Psalms 55:22 the bible tells us to “cast our burdens on the Lord and he will support us, God will never let the righteous be shaken” ESV

This verse encourages us to turn to the Lord in our time of brokenness because only he can heal us. However, going before his alter will require vulnerability and honesty as we reveal our pain to him.

It is also our responsibility to remember that every healing stage for every person is different. While some may take months others may take years or even decades. The key is to exercise patience with ourselves and most importantly trust that God will heal us as he promised.

Psalms 147:3 “He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds” NIV

Prayers for the Broken-Hearted

Lord, Please Heal My Broken Heart

Lord, I come to you with an open heart and open arms because I am struggling to let go of this brokenness and heaviness that I am feeling, but I know you are my refuge. Give me a new heart of acceptance and forgiveness. Release my hard heart and teach me to walk in freedom and acceptance over the things I can’t change. Help me to know and remember that you alone have power and control over my circumstances. I believe that you are my Healer and that you will heal me from all the brokenness I’m feeling. Help me stand strong when I face obstacles in the future. It is in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, in which I pray. AMEN
